3000 Promises
A bit of context
3000 Promises is a 10-minute musical based on the epistolary relationship between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and the journalist Lorena Alice “Hick” Hickok. They exchanged more than 3000 letters over 32 years. Hick gave the letters to the FDR Library, authorizing them to disclose the letters 10 years after her death. The revelation triggered off quite a few controversies.
Synopsis
Starting from this piece of history, I imagined a scene where Hick comes to the graveyard where the First Lady is buried, asking for her permission to give the letters to the FDR Library, and the confrontation that ensues with Eleanor’s ghost / Hick’s conscience.
Character Breakdown
HICK : female-identifying, in her mid 70's, she's a retired journalist, coming to Eleanor's grave to get help on a decision regarding the 3,000 letters they wrote each other for more than 30 years.

RUBY (opportunity for double-casting with ELEANOR): female-identifying, in her early 70's, Hick's devoted younger sister, accompanying her to the graveyard.
